Brandon Lockridge of the Milwaukee Brewers was removed from the field on a medical cart during the fourth inning of Friday night’s home contest against the New York Yankees, following an apparent leg injury. The incident occurred when he slid into the wall while attempting a sliding catch on a foul ball hit by Cody Bellinger. Lockridge appeared to make contact with the concrete beneath the padding at a corner where the wall protrudes.

Before exiting, Lockridge was off to a strong start at the plate. He entered the game with a .277 batting average, no home runs, and 10 RBIs. In the second inning, he delivered an RBI single during a four-run outburst against Yankees starter Max Fried. He added another single in the third inning to drive in a run, extending the Brewers’ lead to 5-0. At the time of his departure, Lockridge was 2-for-2 with a run scored.

The Brewers have not yet provided an update on Lockridge’s condition.
