Caleb Wilson, a top prospect for the 2026 NBA draft, received significant praise from ESPN analyst Jay Williams after an impressive freshman season at North Carolina.

The consensus second-team All-American averaged 19.8 points, 9.4 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 1.5 steals, and 1.4 blocks while shooting 57.8% from the field. He also set freshman program records for scoring average and 20-point games with 17.

Projected as a top-five pick on June 23, the 6-foot-10 forward stands out for his offensive versatility and ability to guard multiple positions. Speaking on “Get Up” on Monday, Williams drew a striking comparison for Wilson.

“Watching him work out, he’s shown the ability to put the ball on the floor. Earlier this season, I thought the bar was Jermaine O’Neal and the ceiling was Kevin Garnett. Now, the bar seems like Garnett, and his ceiling appears closer to Giannis Antetokounmpo. That’s the level he could reach,” Williams said.

Wilson thrived in transition with the ball and dominated the paint with his athleticism and size. His physical tools, including a reported 7-foot-1/4-inch wingspan, should translate well to the next level.

The 19-year-old played only 24 games for the Tar Heels after breaking his left hand in a loss to Miami on Feb. 10. Then he fractured his right thumb during a practice dunk on March 5, ending his season.

As a high draft pick, Wilson is expected to attract interest from multiple teams. While his long-term development remains uncertain, his potential as a franchise-altering talent is clear.
