Only three matchdays remain in Primera Federación, and the main battle is taking place in the relegation zone. Ourense CF is currently out of the danger zone, but alongside them, up to five teams still have a chance to stay up, all fighting for a single survival spot currently held by the Galician club.
O Couto will host a derby between Llácer’s side and Celta Fortuna (Sunday, 16:30 CET), with only one team under real pressure: Ourense CF. The Vigo-based side, having already secured their place in the playoff, are merely playing for final positioning. They could finish second or even third if Zamora, who are on a strong run, continue their winning streak. However, that aim pales in comparison to the drama of a potential relegation in Ourense. The province already lost Arenteiro’s spot last week and hopes to keep another representative in the third tier.
Ourense CF have 39 points, the same as Talavera, who are already in the relegation zone. Both are one point ahead of Cacereño, two ahead of Guadalajara, and three ahead of Osasuna Promesas. Notably, Tajonar’s side won in Vigo last week. Surprises are piling up in this part of the season, with nine points still at stake and sparks expected in the fight for that final survival slot.

Pontevedra leave controversy behind
What was bitterness last Saturday—due to refereeing controversy and a seemingly insufficient point at A Malata—turned into something sweeter by the end of the matchday. The defeat of Ponferradina, Pontevedra’s closest rival for the last playoff spot, means the Lérez side are now one point further from the Bercian team with one less game remaining. With nine points to play for, Pontevedra return to Pasarón aiming to win again after two consecutive draws.
The granates host Bilbao Athletic on Saturday (16:15 CET). The Basque side have nothing at stake. For the hosts, a win would be a giant step toward securing their surprising playoff participation. It could be virtually sealed. Newcomers to the category, no one in the southern Galician city expected such a strong season. Now they are dreaming big. Pontevedra lead Ponferradina and Baracaldo by three points, and CD Lugo and Unionistas by four.

Lugo not ready for vacation
CD Lugo’s victory over Mérida last week was the only win among all Galician teams in matchday 35 of Primera RFEF. Those three points extended their almost impossible fight for a playoff spot. Four points behind Pontevedra, they need a perfect record in the remaining three matches.
CD Lugo face Zamora at Anxo Carro on Sunday in an unusual time slot (14:15 CET). It remains to be seen how the fans will respond to such an awkward kickoff. Watch out for Óscar Cano’s Zamora, who have won their last four games and even aim for Fortuna’s second place.

Racing de Ferrol drop out of playoff race
Meanwhile, Racing de Ferrol have fallen away from the playoff ambitions that CD Lugo still barely hold. The verde side, already beginning to think about next season’s changes, travel to the Bilbao area to face Arenas de Getxo on Saturday (20:30 CET). Both sides have the same points total, seven points away from the playoffs with nine left.
Finally, Arenteiro are already tasting the final stages of their Primera Federación stay. After their mathematical relegation last week, Juanfran’s team will face Guadalajara.
