The NBA community is mourning the sudden loss of Memphis Grizzlies forward Brandon Clarke, who passed away at the age of 29. The team and his agency, Priority Sports, confirmed the news on Tuesday. The cause of death has not been disclosed.

“We are deeply shocked by the tragic loss of Brandon Clarke. He was a great teammate and an even better person, whose impact on the organization and the Memphis community will not be forgotten,” the Grizzlies said in an official statement. “We extend our deepest condolences to his family and loved ones during this difficult time.”
Priority Sports also released a statement, saying it is “simply impossible to put into words how much he will be missed.”
The NBA released an emotional statement as well, praising Clarke as “one of the longest-tenured members of the Grizzlies, a beloved teammate and leader who played with immense passion and fight.”
Clarke was drafted 21st overall by the Oklahoma City Thunder in 2019 and traded to Memphis two weeks later. He spent his entire NBA career with the Grizzlies, appearing in 309 games and averaging 10.2 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 1.3 assists per game.
